How to Play Online Freeroll Poker Tournaments

How to Play Online Freeroll Poker Tournaments
Freeroll poker tournaments offer you chances to win lots of money or free registration to other tournaments without risking a dime of your own. One of the more interesting aspects of freerollers is the ability to practice different tournament theories and strategies without the pressure of recouping your buy in.
Below is a strategy that you can try during your next Freeroll Event. There are three stages: Starting Off, Mid Game, Final Table.
Keep in mind that All-In plays are common in Freeroll and usually they are done very poorly (and can get annoying after awhile). The strategy below lets you ignore the constant All-Ins that happen while, at the same time, take advantage of them to knock other players out.
Starting Off
When To Play: Play until the blinds reach 100/200
Pre-Flop Strategy:
You are looking for strength. Fold the rest.
Any Position:
AA, KK, or AKs: All-In
From Middle to Late Position:
AKo, AQs, AQo, QQ: No more than 6xBB (either opening or calling)
66, 77, 88, 99, TT, or JJ: No more than 4xBB (either opening or calling)
Ax suited, Kx suited, Connectors (suited or unsuited) down to 67: No more than 2xBB (either opening or calling)
From Early Position:
Middle to Late Position cards: Limp
Post-Flop Strategy:
Fold if you don't meet any of the following criteria.
Pair with over cards, Flush or Straight draws: Open 2xBB, Call-Raise up to 4xBB.
Top 2 pair (unpaired board) with no possible draws: Open 4xBB, Re-raise All-In.
Top 2 pair (unpaired board) with possible draws: Open 4xBB, fold raises more than A your stack, call otherwise.
Sets, Flushes, Straights, etc.: Slow play.
Mid Game
When To Play: Play until Final Table
Pre-Flop Strategy:
Any Position except BB*:
AA, KK, AKs: Open 4xBB, re-raise to 50% of stack.
Don't re-raise from BB - call up to 50% of stack
From Middle to Late Position:
AKo, AQs, AQo, QQ: No more than 4xBB (either opening or calling)
88, 99, TT, JJ, ATo, AJo, KJo, JQo: Open 4xBB. Fold to re-raise.
Ax suited, Kx suited, Connectors (suited or unsuited) down to 89: No more than 2xBB (either opening or calling)
Final Table
Congratulations: You are at the final table. The strategies will now focus on your stack size.
Serious Short Stack: 1-2 rounds
From The Button: You have a couple of hands to wait before the BB comes. Only go in if you have a chance to win
From Middle To UTG: Go All-In with any pair or face card (suited or unsuited) unless someone in front of you has gone All-In.
Short Stack: 2-4 rounds
Play similar to Serious Short Stack but wait for a stronger hand.
Middle Stack: Chip stack is middle or higher
Play your style and stay on the protective side of your stack against the Big Stack player.
Big Stack: You are the chip leader
Go on the hunt. Put constant pressure on the short stacks. Make them make a mistake. Be careful not to get too aggressive and lose your lead but don't be afraid to use your power.

How Online Poker Tools Increase Your Winnings

How Online Poker Tools Increase Your Winnings
Did you ever wonder about the security of your home while you are away? Probably not, after all, you have a lock on the doors to prevent uninvited 'guests' from coming in and taking your possessions, right? However, how does that lock stop a person that is skilled in the art of lock picking?
Online poker is in the same respect, secure from most people being able to compromise their site, however, a person skilled in the art of programming can easily learn how to use online poker tools to subvert the security software intended to prevent cheating, collusion and pokerbot detection.
Many poker sites in recent years have implemented a multitude of safeguards to deter cheating, collusion and pokerbots from polluting their poker rooms and in an effort to make the game appear fair to everyone. Nevertheless, the software poker sites are using to accomplish this actually has an adverse effect on the real play of the game.
The secret to winning is to know how online poker tools can work to your advantage and how you can win without suffering the constant bad beats so often seen in the internet poker sites. The first step in winning is to understand the software algorithms used by the pokersites, and then put that knowledge to work when you play poker online.
Many sites prohibit online poker tools, and have methods of detecting persons using such software. The reason the pokersites do not want players using online poker tools, is to prevent them from gaining an unfair advantage. Yet, the pokersites use several unfair algorithms in their software that statistically does not concur with true live play.
If you truly want to win in internet poker, you need to use online poker tools that give you an even advantage against the software running the pokersites. There are several methods that are available that will reveal the codes of those algorithms used by online poker sites, and learning this information will easily level the playing field and further curtail the enormous amount of constant bad beats.
I encourage any serious poker player to examine the possibility of using online poker tools to further their game and win more often. On the other hand, if you honestly believe the poker sites are fairly dealing a game, then there is no need for the use of such tools. However, repeated research has proven that the pokersites are not using fair dealing techniques and therefore the only solution is to learn their software algorithms and use it to your advantage.

A Brief Look at the History of Poker

A Brief Look at the History of Poker
To a person coming across it for the first time, poker tends to look like a very young game. Perhaps it is the fact that it is played with cards (which look very modern), usually with trendy sounding names, or the fact that is a game wildly loved by youngsters or something like that, which is to account for the popular notion that poker is a 'young' game. In actual fact, though, it is one very old game, as a brief look at the history of poker will reveal.
According to scholars who have dedicated much of their time to the study of the history of poker, it would seem that its roots are in an olden German game known as Pochspiel, which could possibly even give us hints to the origin of its name. Pochspiel was played as far back as the medieval ages (the 1400s), and its similarity to what we know as poker today is not a matter of conjecture. It was a game like poker in virtually all ways; complete with the placement of bets and the valuation of hands to determine winners. There are those who feel that the attempts to tie down the name poker to Pochspiel are far-drawn, showing other French and German words that bear closer resemblance, and which would therefore be the words from which the name poker was derived.
Whatever its roots, it would seem that poker was widely being played in a number of parts of the world (especially in the United States) by the time the industrial revolution was at its height, though probably under other names. American literature from the 1800s is especially awash with descriptions of what are obviously games of poker being played.
It would seem that 1850s were when the 52-card deck, which is the standard for poker world-wide, was introduced as the basic poker playing tool. The American Civil War, pitting states that wanted to be part of the union against those that wanted to secede would seem to be a period during which many developments were added to poker, to make it the game we know today. By 1925, we were already having community games of poker, with the 1970s seeing a level of development where we had what were, for all purposes and intents, global poker tournaments. The 70s would also be the period when books teaching poker were first published, with the 80s being a period of quiet growth for poker, and also a period during which the game truly went global.
The 1990s were another period of tremendous growth for poker. This would be when the Internet was evolving from an academia-military collaboration tool, to an informational platform for the masses, and eventually a social platform by the late 90s. This would also be the time when first attempts were made for online poker, with the first real game of online poker being played in 1998.
We don't know what comes next, but this is pretty much where we find ourselves at: with the development and exponential growth in online poker being the last major event we have witnessed in the history of poker.

Is Poker Software Ruining Online Poker?

Is Poker Software Ruining Online Poker?
From Poker Office to Poker Tracker, Holdem Manager to Tournament Indicator; there are more than 50 different poker tools I could recollect that have been placed on the online poker market to help give an edge to players.
My question is, to what extent are these good for the game?
Poker is a game of skill, maths and reading. The skill comes from the positional play opponent of poker, knowing whether to exploit weakness at the table in a given position or continuation bet a flop from the blinds against a TAG (tight aggressive opponent). Understanding someone's game and what hands they play, how many bluffs they make, whether they'll 3bet light; it's all something accomplished players develop precocious skill over.
The concept of maths in poker: that of expected value and implied odds is also extremely important. As is picking up reads on opponents. A solid LAG post-flop player will be able to hit back at his opponent and create enough action to know when he's behind or in front. But, the last few years have heavily changed and arguably dismantled the previous dynamics of online poker.
When you set up an account as a new player at a site like PokerStars, everyone will already know something about you. There is too much transparency in the game now. You'll be targeted as a fish and placed on everyone's "fishometer. You'll find opponents will hit back at you far more often and try to gain relative position of you. Is this really fair? The problem as I see it, is that anyone who wants to make money in online poker will now have to buy these tools. Poker no longer becomes a game about hand-reads and table image, but about stats figures and numbers. Is this really the game we all admire and see publicised on shows like Late Night Poker and Poker After Dark?
The online version of poker is rapidly departing from its live sibling. The new generation of players is nothing more than a heave of stats junkies who multi-table 20 or so games at a time. Compare someone of Tom Dwan's ability to that of Doyle Brunson or Phil Hellmuth and tell me the progress is a good thing.
Personally, I think sometimes we have to say no to technology and prevent it from taking over sports or games that otherwise would leave it quixotic and automated by technology. The President of FIFA's decision to not introduce goal-line technology is an apotheosis of this idea. Sports and games such as poker should not diminish from their "human" soul to become ruthless autarkic games with technology.
In conclusion, I am perfectly aware of the many advantages poker software such as a HUD can offer users. But, there comes a point when it has come too far: for PokerStars this was evident by their "ban" of poker-edge software on their site which uses a central database of billions of opponent stats as opposed to a player's own private collection. There is too much weight placed on poker tools now to give opponents an edge. I think the poker sites should work together and ban these types of tracking software altogether.

Ladies Poker Particular date

Ladies Poker is not a word that can be explained as being masculine or gynaecoid. However, when the message poker is spoken, 2 from 3 will tell you it ends up in images of men being seated around a table getting a guys night, usually having beer and or cigarette smoking a cigar or two.

This however, is not the case at all. And to prove it so, the adventure of Poker has taken by using an entirely new shape, enter in women only leagues. Yes they still use a traditional clay chip pieces, not pretty pink products wrapped in bows! Women took this card game by means of storm.

Live tournaments have witnessed massive turn outs. One of the most recent of these occured on December 10th 2008, around London England. This was the following Women's world open to happen in the history associated with ladies only live take up.

This tournament saw your turn out of some of the biggest names in ladies Poker. Players were saddled up next to makes Erica Schoenberg, May Macerias, Katharine Hartree, Jackie Meecham, and also Shelley Rubenstein. 36 women every one didn't bat an eye lash when throwing down $3, 000 for that buy in, and a go at the take household prize of $50, 000. A women's only group founded by a Hollywood Florida wife in addition to mother, it allows women to sense safe at the Poker desk. Not all women will be intimidated being surrounded by a gaggle of men. But quite just a few have said that that makes them somewhat unsafe, and unwelcomed as if he or she is inferior to even be playing with the same chips.

Offering women’s only setting is one way to ease the unnecessary too much tension already felt whilst playing a round of Hold'em. With only a simply 6 percent of existing casino tournament players to be female, companies like this one are hoping to draw women who may have always been interested, but apprehensive about getting involved from the game being overwhelmingly men's dominated.

In a "guy's are going to be guy's" atmosphere, where an individual is singled out and at once made a target due to their gender. It is of utmost importance that women are equally given time to engage in the rush of your game that is a single part chance, by the cards you happen to be dealt, and one part skill, depending upon your own Poker strategies. Bottom line is the game was not created with a specific gender at heart, and as with all other sport in American History, should be recognized and respected being a valid form of play perhaps the players are all men, or in this claim, all women.
